Complete List of Elisabeth Fritzl’s Siblings

Elisabeth Fritzl has 13 siblings, namely Ulrike Fritzl, Rosemarie Fritzl Jnr., Harald Fritzl, Gabrielle Fritzl, Josef Fritzl Jnr., Doris Fritzl, Kerstin Fritzl, Stefan Fritzl, Lisa Fritzl, Monika Fritzl, Alexander Fritzl, Michael Fritzl (deceased), and Felix Fritzl. Six of her siblings were conceived and given birth to by her mother, Rosemarie Fritzl, while the other seven children were conceived and birthed by Elisabeth herself.

To clear up any confusion that the previous statement might have generated, it is important to recall that Elisabeth Fritzl is the protagonist of The Fritzl Case, which depicts the real-life story of an Austrian woman who was kidnapped on her 18th birthday by her own father, Josef Fritzl.

Elisabeth was subsequently held in the basement of her own home, where she was raped and tortured for 24 years. While she remained in captivity, Elisabeth conceived and bore 7 children. Ironically, her children were as much her siblings as they were her children as a result of the incest she was forced to commit with her monster of a father.

The events that led up to Elisabeth’s kidnap, the devastating ordeal, and how she found her way back to society have been documented in various articles. However, not much is known about the other members of Elisabeth’s family, including her mother and siblings. As earlier stated, Elisabeth Fritzl has 13 siblings, and this article focuses on those of her siblings and what they have been up to.

Elisabeth Fritzl Has Six Siblings From Her Parents

We will begin with the siblings Elisabeth had as a result of her parent’s marriage and with whom she spent the first 18 years of her life. Elisabeth’s parents, Josef and Rosemarie Fritzl, got married in 1956. The marriage produced 7 children, including Elisabeth. As a result, Elisabeth has 6 siblings from her parents’ union. Their names are Ulrike Fritzl, Rosemarie Fritzl Jnr., Harald Fritzl, Gabrielle Fritzl, Josef Fritzl Jnr., and Doris Fritzl.

Ulrike Fritzl

Year of Birth: 1957
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Rosemarie Fritzl (mother)

A younger Ulrike Fritzl

Ulrike Fritzl was born in 1957, just about a year after her parent’s marriage in 1956. Elisabeth’s oldest sibling was born in Amstetten, Austria, and she is the oldest daughter of formerly married Austrian couple Josef and Rosemarie Fritzl. She was raised in Amstetten alongside Elisabeth and her other siblings until Elisabeth disappeared after her 18th birthday.

Prior to Elisabeth’s disappearance, Ulrike Fritzl had a fairly good relationship with Elisabeth, who was nine years younger. There isn’t sufficient information to determine the level of Ulrike’s formal educational background, but her current profession as a teacher points to the fact that she most likely had a good enough formal education that has enabled her to excel in her teaching profession.

Ulrike Fritzl is currently married and goes by the name Ulrike Pramesberger, and as stated earlier, she is still a teacher who lives with her family in Bad Goisern at the foot of the Alps. Her home is described as a chalet-style country property built on an expanse of land.

Rosemarie Fritzl Jnr.

Year of Birth: 1960
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Rosemarie Fritzl (mother)

Elisabeth Fritzl’s Siblings
A younger Rosemarie Fritzl

Next on the list of Elisabeth Fritzl’s siblings is her second oldest sibling named Rosemarie Fritzl Jr. Rosemarie Jnr. is the second daughter of Josef and Rosemarie Fritzl, and she was also born in Amstetten, Austria, in 1960. Her exact date of birth, day, and month is unknown, but she was born roughly 4 years after her parents’ wedding in 1956 and just about 3 years after Ulrike was born.

Rosemarie Jnr. was named after her mother, who also goes by the name Rosemarie. The exact nature of her relationship with Elisabeth while growing up has not been made explicitly clear, but one would imagine that it was typical of any other normal relationship between siblings in any other part of the world.

Before the Fritzl case in 2008, not much was known about the Fritzl family, and the unknown aspects included their formal education backgrounds. As a result, one would assume that Rosemarie Jnr. had a semblance of formal education, but without an exclusive, there is no way to determine just how far she went academically.

Currently an adult, Rosemarie Jnr. reportedly lived in Linz 13 years ago. Her home was said to have been just 35 miles from the scene of Elisabeth’s 24 years long nightmare. She was also reported to have regularly visited Elisabeth and her children in the months and weeks that followed their liberation from their father’s evil clutches.

However, at the moment, not much is known about Rosemarie Fritzl Jr., including what she does for a living and whether she now has a family and children of her own like her sisters Ulrike and Elisabeth.

Harald Fritzl

Year of Birth: 1963
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Rosemarie Fritzl (mother)

Harald Fritzl is the first son of Josef and Rosemarie Fritzl and Elisabeth’s immediate older brother. He was born in 1963, also in Amstetten, Austria. Harald Fritzl was raised by his parents. During the trial of his father, Elisabeth’s older brother testified to the fact that he and his siblings had been raised under the abusive influence of their father. He explicitly revealed that he had been physically assaulted by Josef Fritzl on several occasions.

His statement directly contradicted the statement made by his father’s lawyer, who essentially claimed that Josef Fritzl was not a monster. We can’t effectively opine about the nature of his relationship with Elisabeth before she disappeared for 24 years. We can, however, reveal that he was quite supportive of Elisabeth and her children after they were set free.

His academic qualifications and career path are not things that the public are aware of. He reportedly left home to get married, but it would appear that he prefers life away from the spotlight and that he has no interest in exposing the woman he married and any children they might have had to it either. Harald is now an adult, but his current whereabouts are unknown. He most likely resides in and around Austria, like most members of his birth family.

Gabrielle Fritzl

Year of Birth: 1971

Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Rosemarie Fritzl (mother)

Gabrielle Fritzl was born in 1971 and is technically the 5th child of Josef and Rosemarie Fritzl. She was born roughly five years after Elisabeth, and she has a twin brother. Gabrielle Fritzl grew up with Elisabeth in the same house and subsequently with three of her “upstairs siblings.” She was only 13 years old when Elisabeth disappeared, and for the next 24 years, she lived her life believing that her older sister had joined a secret sect and that she had also abandoned her children for their parents to take care of.

Certain reports seem to point to the fact that she harbored a little resentment against her sister as she wondered what kind of mother would abandon her children. Those feelings were replaced by feelings of anger towards her father, whom she had believed was a loving grandfather taking care of his grandchildren, when the truth of his actions was made public.

Gabrielle Fritzl most likely got sufficient formal education, but the details are sketchy at the moment. What she does for a living is also subject to if or when she chooses to reveal that bit of information. At the moment, Gabrielle reportedly lives with her husband, Juergen Helm, in a chalet-style house near Amstetten. They have a child together, and it has been revealed that they have a sign outside their house in Austrian, which essentially translates to Reporters not welcome. This was most likely put up to keep nosy reporters at bay.

Josef Fritzl Jnr.

Year of Birth: 1971
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Rosemarie Fritzl (mother)

Named after his father, Josef Fritzl Jnr. is Gabrielle Fritzl’s twin brother and was born in 1971. Elisabeth Fritzl’s younger brother got along with her just fine, up until their father convinced them that she had joined a secret sect. He was understandably unhappy about the entire thing and even more so when he had to share a space with Elisabeth’s allegedly abandoned children.

Like Gabrielle, he felt really bad for Elisabeth when he found out what their father had done. There isn’t sufficient information to determine the level of Josef Jnr.’s formal education, but as of the time of Elisabeth’s liberation, he reportedly still lived with his parents in Ybbsstrasse, Amstetten. His decision to live his life away from the spotlight means that his current whereabouts are unknown.

Doris Fritzl

Year of Birth: 1972
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Rosemarie Fritzl (mother)

Doris Fritzl, like her older siblings, was born in Amstetten, Austria, in 1972. She is the youngest child of Josef and Rosemarie Fritzl and also Elisabeth Fritzl’s youngest sibling from her parents. Elisabeth was around six years old when Doris was born, which meant that they didn’t have many interactions as siblings.

Raised by her parents, Doris lived at home and was only 12 years old when her sister Elisabeth became a prisoner, thanks to their evil father. Doris was also a fully grown 36-year-old woman when Elisabeth rejoined society 24 years after disappearing shortly after her 18th birthday.

Like all her other siblings, Doris prefers to keep her affairs private and has not granted enough audience to the media to ascertain her level of academic qualifications. Doris Fritzl is happily married, and following revelations about her family, she decided to be addressed by her married name Heniki. Not much is known about her current whereabouts as well.

Elisabeth Fritzl Had Seven Other Siblings, Her Children with Her Father

Before the events of 2008, Elisabeth’s father’s neighbors were of the opinion that he was a genial father of seven who had no secrets. They were all astonished when it was revealed that he had fathered seven other children with his daughter Elisabeth after kidnapping and torturing her for 24 years. His double lifestyle remains a shocking revelation to his neighbors, who thought so highly of him.

As a result of what went on in what is now dubbed the “Incest Cellar”, Elisabeth Fritzl had seven other siblings. A wicked twist of fate also means that she was tasked with the unwanted responsibility of giving birth to those siblings. Let’s meet Elisabeth Fritzl’s other siblings.

Kerstin Fritzl

Date of Birth: August 30, 1988
Age: 34 years old
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Elisabeth Fritzl (mother)

Kerstin Fritzl was born in captivity on August 30, 1988, in Amstetten, Austria. She has a twisted relationship with the evil and incarcerated serial rapist, Josef Fritzl, in the sense that he is not just her father but also her grandfather as a result of the fact that she was conceived after her father/grandfather raped her mother/sister.

Kerstin spent the first 19 years of her life in the incest cellar. She only saw a glimpse of what the outside world looked like when Josef was forced to take her to the hospital after she became ill with an infection. Doctors were surprised that someone that young was so severely malnourished and missing half her dentition. It prompted them to dig deeper, which led to the release of Elisabeth and the subsequent arrest of Josef Fritzl.

Now 34 years old, Kerstin Fritzl didn’t attend school for most of her life, and her current whereabouts are unknown since she survived the incest cellar.

Stefan Fritzl

Date of Birth: February 1, 1990
Age: 33 years old
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Elisabeth Fritzl (mother)

Almost two years after the birth of Kerstin, Elisabeth gave birth to her second child and eighth sibling on February 1, 1990. This time it was a boy who was named Stefan. Stefan was also raised in the incest cellar alongside Kerstin and one other sibling. Like Kerstin, he did not attend any school for the first 17 years of his life.

Reports also suggest that at 5 feet 7 inches, Stefan would most likely walk with a slight slope as a result of having lived too long in a cellar that only measured 5 feet 6 inches. Stefan lives in a two-story family home with all his siblings. The home is under the constant and vigilant watch of security guards and CCTV cameras.

Lisa Fritzl

Date of Birth: August 29, 1992
Age: 30 years old
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Elisabeth Fritzl (mother)

Lisa Fritzl was born on August 29, 1992, in Amstetten, Austria. She is often referred to as one of the upstairs children because she was one of the three children, including Monika (born February 26, 1994) and Alexander (born April 28, 1996), who was raised in the main house by Elisabeth’s parents, Josef and Rosemarie.

She had a normal life, including attending a school where she was described as fun and bubbly. She also resides with her mother and five surviving siblings in the two-story building located in a tiny hamlet in the Austrian countryside.

Monika Fritzl

Date of Birth: February 26, 1994
Age: 28 years old
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Elisabeth Fritzl (mother)

The second of the upstairs children, Monika Fritzl, was born on February 26, 1994, in Amstetten, Austria. She was also raised by her grandmother Rosemarie Fritzl after her father/grandfather had convinced his wife that their mother, Elisabeth, had abandoned them on the doorstep of their home.

Her childhood pretty much followed the same trajectory as Lisa’s as she equally lived a normal life, including attending school. She has since been united with her mother/sister, Elisabeth, and currently resides in the same two-story building with her cellar family members.

Alexander Fritzl

Date of Birth: April 28, 1996
Age: 26 years old
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Elisabeth Fritzl (mother)

The last of the three children who were raised upstairs by Josef and Rosemarie Fritzl, Elisabeth’s parents, Alexander Fritzl, was born on April 28, 1996, along with his twin brother Michael. Alexander also had the privilege of living a fairly normal life that ultimately changed when the world learned of his father’s/grandfather’s evil.

He was also lucky to have lived long enough to witness the rescue of his mother/sister from the incest cellar. His twin brother Michael was not so lucky. He is also one of the six surviving children who live in the Austrian hamlet with their mother/sister.

Michael Fritzl

Date of Birth: April 28, 1996
Date of Death: May 1, 1996
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Elisabeth Fritzl (mother)

Michael Fritzl is Alexander’s twin brother and was born on April 28, 1996. Sadly, he died on May 1, 1996, just 3 days after his birth. His cause of death was believed to be related to the health complications he developed on account of his incest-related birth. His body was disposed of in the furnace that kept the cellar warm.

Felix Fritzl

Date of Birth: December 16, 2002
Age: 20 years old
Parents: Josef Fritzl (father), Elisabeth Fritzl (mother)

Felix Fritzl is the youngest of Elisabeth Fritzl’s children/siblings. He was born on December 16, 2002, and is still feeling the effects of living the first six years of his life in the incest cellar. Several reports revealed that although he could walk when they were freed from captivity, Felix had preferred to crawl and had clung tightly to his mother for very long periods. He is also one of the residents of the two-story building that never closes its doors.
